Kurt Merrill, M.S., Owner

Kurt has a deep love of the outdoors and farming. He and his family operate an 11 acre Macadamia Nut, Honey, and Christmas Tree Farm in Deluz CA. He played Division 1 soccer and earned both his Bachelors (’93) and Masters (’96) degrees from The Pennsylvania State University. Kurt is a deeply experienced lecturer and field educator and served as Adjunct Faculty at Penn State University and California State University, Northridge teaching a combined 10 years. Kurt has conducted more than 28 symposium and conference presentations and has over 44 publications to his credit.

Kurt spent 15 years in the education and conservation service sector, serving as an Executive Director for 5. During this time, he served 9 years on the National Wilderness Risk Manager's Committee serving 3 years as the Chair. After “retiring” from education, Kurt hung his own shingle as a Landscape Contractor and Tree Service professional in CA. His company currently specializes in turf grass management and oversees a large 240-acre sports grass facility. Kurt holds a C-27 CA Contractor License, a CA Department of Pesticide Regulation Applicators License and a CA Pest Management Business License.
